Eco Dye Linen Pareo Oversized Scarf
We are true believers of the beauties in all natural materials.
Linen naturally needs virtually no pesticides (its natural enemy is the fieldmouse, not insects) and little in the way of fertilizers or irrigation, so even in the ordinary run of things it is clean to grow. Pure, undyed, eco dye, botanical dye and unfinished linen can be composted once it’s at the point of falling apart, a huge mark in its favor.
Flax, the plant from which linen is made, is extremely versatile. Every part of the flax plant has traditionally been used to create a worthwhile product—nothing is wasted, and production is cost effective. A common by-product of flax is linseed oil, which is great for wood preservation, especially in varnishes, and flaxseed oil is also rich in omega 3! Flax is resilient and can grow in poor soil, using far less water in its consumption than cotton. According to the European Confederation of Linen and Hemp, “Across its lifecycle, a linen shirt uses 6.4 litres of water” compared to 2,700 litres for a cotton shirt.
This one of a kind eco dyed linen pareo was naturally hand dyed with traditional method using an eco-friendly pH neutral detergent to preserve colors. Due to the composition of natural dyes there can be some colour differences, which adds to the unique nature of each item. We use the softest premium quality European linen.
